Donna Edwards - Victory!

Donna Edwards won the 2008 primary election for the Democratic leaning fourth Congressional District of Maryland, which consists of most of Prince George’s County and a large part of Montgomery County. The defeated incumbent, Albert Wynn, had served since 1992. Her opponent in the General Election is Peter James (R).
Background:
Donna Edwards is an attorney specializing in public interest law. Currently, Edwards is the Executive Director of The Arca Foundation, which supports social justice issues, in Washington, DC. She formerly was the Executive Director of the Center for New Democracy and worked with Public Citizen, a public interest Watch-Dog group. Her interest was in campaign finance reform. Prior to this, she used her strong feminist perspective to co-found and serve as Executive Director of the National Network to End Domestic Violence. Donna Edwards attended Wake Forest University and Franklin Pierce Law School.
