Marcia Fudge is the former Chief of Staff to the late Stephanie Tubbs Jones who died suddenly this summer.  She is running to replace her previous boss and friend.  Fudge won the vote by Cuyahoga Democratic Party officials to run for Tubbs Jones’ seat in November for Ohio’s Eleventh Congressional District. Her opponent in the General Election is Thomas Pekarek (R). The 11th Congressional District is comprised of the east side of Cleveland and the suburbs to the east.

Background:  Marcia Fudge waselected the first woman and the first African American mayor of Warrensville Heights in 2000. She has served in numerous public positions including:  Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office and other county offices, the State of Ohio, and the cities of Cleveland and Bedford. She is the Past National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Upon graduating from Shaker Heights High School, Fudge entered Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration. She then received a J.D. from Cleveland Marshall College of Law.

  • Supports: Promises to continue Tubbs Jones’ work, especiallyas an advocate for the economy, urban investment, affordable housing, and quality, accessible, and affordable health care.  She is pro choice, pro women’s rights, and pro civil rights.
