Linda Stender is running for the open seat in the Seventh Congressional District in New Jersey. Republican incumbent Michael Ferguson is retiring. She had no opponent in the Democratic Primary. The district is located in the north central part of the state, parts of Union and Woodbridge.

Background:
Since 2001, Linda Stender is a member of the New Jersey General Assembly. She also has served as Mayor of Fanwood, a Union County Freeholder, member of the Fanwood Planning Board and Chair of the Fanwood Downtown Redevelopment Committee. Her civic involvement began when she worked as part of a Fanwood Junior women’s Club project to save an historic building. The fight was successful.

Excellent. This race is viewed as a toss-up. However, since Ferguson’s retirement, Stender is viewed as the favorite. If Stender wins, she would be the only woman in the New Jersey Congressional Delegation. DCCC Red to Blue status.
