Victoria Wulsin, MD

Victoria Wulsin, MD is running for the House of Representatives in Ohio’s 2nd District which includes Cincinnati. This is Wulsin’s second run for this seat which she lost to incumbent Republican Jean Schmidt in 2006 in by only 2,500 votes.
Background:
Dr. Wulsin is a licensed physician specializing in Public Health, General Preventive Medicine, and Occupational Medicine and is a leader in women's health. She recently founded a non-profit organization to aid in the prevention of HIV and AIDS in orphan children in Kenya. She directed a five-year project to promote women’s health in five countries in Africa and Asia and assisted the USAID after the Rowandan genocide. Dr. Wulsin served as the Cincinati epidemiologist and an officer for the US Public Health Service. Wulsin received her BA and a Ph.D in Public Health from Harvard University and her M.D. from Case Western University.

Wulsin defeated Stephen Black in the March 4, 2008 Democratic Primary. Black had called Wulsin too liberal to be elected. Schmidt defeated two challengers in the March 4 Republican Primary.
Prospects:
Wulsin’s narrow loss to Schmidt in 2006 puts her in a good position to win this seat this year. DCCC Red to Blue status.
